BURGLARY, VANDALISM, THEFT REPORTED AT CROSSVILLE BUSINESS

Sunday night, police responded to a report of a burglary, vandalism and theft at SignSmith, at 174 Fourth Street.

Someone broke a glass window in the rear of the building and ransacked the business, destroying several computer monitors, several TVs and a printer. The suspect then drove a tow motor into a garage door, damaging the door, and drew vulgarities on two walls. The suspect then found keys to a van parked inside the business, loaded several tools, an 1,800-watt generator and other equipment into it, and left.

While police were still at the scene, an employee got a call stating a male subject was at a North Street address, bragging about having broken in, vandalized the business and stolen the van.

When police arrived at North Street, the suspect, 18-year-old Tyler Julius Allin Hoskins, of no certain address, freely admitted to the crimes. He told them he’d ditched the van in the woods behind Kat’s Car Wash on Lantana Road.

The van was recovered, along with most of the stolen items. Hoskins was taken to the Cumberland County jail and charged with burglary/breaking & entering and destruction/vandalism/damage.
