BURN PERMITS REQUIRED FROM OCT. 15TH TO MAY 15TH

From South Roane County Volunteer Fire Department:
Before you strike that match and turn your backyard into a mini bonfire festival, remember: you need a burn permit from Oct 15-May 15. It’s free, quick, easy, and saves our firefighters from an unexpected “surprise visit.”
🚫 What NOT to burn:
• Tires (it’s not a NASCAR pit stop)
• Trash (that’s a short trip to the dump)
• Construction debris (smoke signals aren’t zoning-approved)
✅ Do this instead:
• Clear a safe space around your burn area
• Keep water and tools close
• Never leave it unattended (fires don’t babysit themselves)
💰 Fines can burn up to $2,500, so let’s keep the flames where they belong (in the fire pit, not the wallet).
