BUSY WEEKEND FOR FIRST RESPONDERS IN ROCKWOOD
Early Friday night in Rockwood, while police and fire department crews were occupied with a house fire, another call came in around 11:30 p.m. reporting a fight involving several people at the Meadows Apartments on South Chamberlain Avenue. Sheriff’s deputies assisted Rockwood police in calming the situation. No injuries were reported, so no ambulance was needed, and it is unknown whether any arrests were made.
Around 12:30 a.m. Saturday morning, a Life Star helicopter landed at the Rockwood sports complex to airlift a 64-year-old woman with a medical condition from south of Rockwood to UT Medical Center in Knoxville. Her current condition is unknown.
Later on Saturday night, Kingston Fire Department responded to a car fire at the Weigel’s store on Gallaher Road in Kingston. There were no injuries, and the fire caused no damage to the store or any other vehicles.
