CANCELED SHIPMENTS RESULT IN EMPTY SHELVES AT SECOND HARVEST OF EAST TENN.
Federal spending cuts have left Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee in Maryville with empty shelves after the USDA canceled 21 tractor-trailer shipments worth $722,000, funded by the paused Commodities Credit Corporation.
Now, the food bank is seeking community support through food drives, financial donations, or spreading awareness to restock supplies. The USDA is working to ensure food distribution but has not clarified the review process.
