The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says Tennessee is among 7 states leading the nation for active flu cases.
Tennessee Department of Health data shows that outpatient visits for flu-like illness increased to 11.9 percent compared to 7.2 percent the previous week.
The CDC reports Tennessee, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and New Mexico are states reporting very high levels of flu spread.
Those most impacted by the flu so far this year in terms of hospitalizations are adults 65 and over (38.8%), adults 50 to 64 (18.9), and children 4 years or younger (16.6%).
