CHARLES ELMORE TO TAKE ON DIRECTOR POSITION AT HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
Today, Charles Elmore, former executive director of Roane County Family Promise, revealed he is leaving Family Promise to join Habitat for Humanity as a regional director at their Lakeway affiliate in Morristown, starting March 31, 2025, drawn by their affordable housing mission.
After securing the new role, he resigned from Family Promise on January 28, 2025. An interim director will serve Family Promise part-time (12 hours/week) until a permanent replacement is hired by April 28, 2025.
Family Promise of Roane County announced yesterday that Charles Elmore, their Executive Director since January 2023, will step down on March 30, 2025.
During his tenure, Elmore significantly expanded the organization’s efforts to combat family homelessness through shelter, prevention, and stabilization services, serving up to 20 families and 65 individuals at a time.
His key achievements include:

Service Growth: Family services increased by 494%, and individual services by 519%, with notable program expansions (shelter: 105%, diversion: 861%, prevention: 2,582%).

Fundraising & Thrift Store: Launched a thrift store and boosted grant funding by 205% through events, mailings, and grants.

Staff Development: Implemented evaluations and personality testing to enhance the work environment.

Partnerships: Built collaborations with local institutions, securing resources and internships for enriched client services.

Operational Success: Oversaw financial management and absorbed another nonprofit to expand capacity.

Advocacy: Strengthened regional support through public speaking and high-profile events.
Elmore’s leadership leaves a lasting legacy, positioning Family Promise as a leader in addressing homelessness in Roane County. The organization expressed gratitude for his transformative impact and wished him well in his future endeavors.
