CITY COUNCIL CONSIDERING ANOTHER LOCATION FOR INDOOR RECREATION FACILITY
The Crossville City Council held a work session yesterday to discuss several topics. One was regarding the proposed indoor recreation facility. Officials recently purchases 24 acres of land at a total cost of $594,000 near the corner of Genesis Road and Iris Lane as a site for the structure.
Now, a second location is being considered.
“We need to look at the land across the street from city hall. It needs to be seen easily by citizens,” said Councilman Scot Shanks.
This property runs from the large parking lot of the old Ford dealership on Main Street north to behind Crossville Church of Christ on Livingston Road.
“I have a problem with switching sites right after we just bought land for it,” replied Mayor James Mayberry.
Officials say the property off of Genesis Road can be sold and come close to if directly gain the money back spent on it.
A motion could be made in the city council regular meeting July 13, 2021, to instruct the city attorney to enter into negotiations for the land on Main Street.
