CITY MANAGER TO CONDUCT INTERVIEWS FOR PERMANENT POLICE CHIEF

(Update to a story that first appeared here August 29, 2018) – It is past the deadline and Crossville City Manager Greg Wood has 17 applications to consider for the position of police chief. The spot became available after former chief David Beaty was dismissed. Chris Kendrick is presently serving as interim chief. Wood hopes to narrow the list down to finalists for the position and hold interviews soon. Wood told 105.7 News that he hopes to have a permanent police chief in place next month.

The 17 include:

JESSIE BROOKS of Kingston – Tennessee Highway Patrol Captain, served with the THP from 1981 to present day.

TONY DAVIS, JR. of Crossville – Lieutenant with the Crossville Police Department. A total of 27 years in law enforcement.

ROBERT EDWARDS of Humphreys County – Chief deputy with the Humphreys County Sheriff’s Department. Began his career in law enforcement in 1997.

JON MARK FEHLMAN of Murfreesboro – served with the Santa Rosa, California Police Department from 1996 to 2008, Bainbridge Island Police Chief from 2008 to 2012.

RICHARD HOLT of Crossville – formerly of the Cookeville Police Department.

WILLIAM KAIN of Norris, Tennessee – Current Chief of Police for the Norris Police Department in Anderson County. A total of 18 years in law enforcement.

CHRIS KENDRICK of Crossville – Current Interim Police Chief for the Crossville Police Department.

THOMAS LAY of Rocky Top, Tennessee – Formerly with the Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper, former deputy United States Marshal and former sheriff of Scott County.

CRAIG MOATES of McKenzie, Tennessee – Current Chief of Police of the McKenzie Police Department.

JAMES PHELPS of Illinois – Current Chief of Police for the Bourbonnias, Illinois Police Department with 29 years experience in law enforcement.

GREGORY PURDEN of Brevard County – current commander of operational services with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Department.

MARK ROSSER of Crossville – Current Captain in the Fairfield Glade Police Department. Former Interim Police Chief for the Crossville Police Department. Served with the Crossville Police Department for 29 years.

RODNEY SHOAP of Crossville – former Crossville police chief and current Director for the Cumberland County E-911 Communications Center. A total of 26 years in law enforcement.

MARK STEINMAN – served with the Harriman and Crossville Police Departments as well as the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department. Total of 24 years law enforcement and 28 years fire department experience.

BRIAN TILLEY of Crossville – Currently a lieutenant with the Crossville Police Department with 22 years experience.

JONATHAN WILLIS of Riceville – Former Athens, Tennessee Police Department chief detective and former special agent with the bomb and arson squad.

DANIEL R. WRIGHT of Harriman – former TBI agent and Rockwood police chief from 2013 to 2017.
