CITY OF CROSSVILLE 2017-18 FY BUDGET AND TAX RATE APPROVED
The City of Crossville has a new Fiscal Year 2017-18 Budget and approved tax rate. The $20 million budget was unanimously approved on third reading Thursday. Council Member Scott Shanks was absent from the meeting. Although the budget has a $1.9 million overage, the budget will be balanced by transferring the money from the city’s $13 million Rainy Day fund. Since this is a tax reappraisal year for the city, the state-certified rate dropped from .6305 to .5905 per $100 of assessed value. A motion was made by Council Member JH Graham to cut the tax rate further back to .55 but that motion failed due to other funding concerns.
