CITY OF CROSSVILLE APPROVES LAWSUIT ON OWNERS OF INN OF THE CUMBERLANDS
The Crossville City Council has approved to bring a lawsuit against the owners of the former Inn of the Cumberlands. City Attorney Will Ridley told the council Tuesday that the owners had been given several chances to pay off taxes and liens on the property, which was closed and condemned by the Codes Department two years ago. Ridley did say that the 2007-2008 property taxes had been addressed but that another round of taxes would be owed in the 2019 tax sale. Around $60-$70,000 in back taxes are owed, not to mention the estimated $100,000 that it would cost to demolish the structure. Adding tonnage-fees to that, the city would be looking at a loss of nearly $200,000. Council Member Danny Wyatt made a motion to bring the lawsuit and it was approved unanimously.
