CITY OF CROSSVILLE TO TAKE OVER SOUTH, NORTH, BROWN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL’S SEWER LINES

The Crossville City Council will be taking over the sewer lines and service of three Cumberland County Schools. The council accepted the proposal from the Board of Education to accept the sewer lines that service South Cumberland, North Cumberland and Brown Elementary Schools. After Council Member JH Graham made the motion to accept the proposal, City Mayor James Mayberry stated that he had some problems with accepting the Brown line. He said that he was not sure that a utility district could run through a second utility district, meaning South Cumberland Utility District. He was also concerned with the additional amount of manpower it would take to run the operation along with the depreciation of the older sewer lines. Graham said that that it would be more expensive if the city failed to tie into Brown because of the recent approval that would allow a hookup to Meadow Park Lake. Although Mayor Mayberry wanted the city attorney to look into his concerns about South Cumberland Utility District’s part in the deal, the council Okayed the motion 3-2 with Mayberry and Scot Shanks opposing.
