The City of Harriman is moving closer to filling its leadership vacancy, scheduling a special-called City Council meeting for this Wednesday, August 12, at 4:00 p.m. at Harriman City Hall.

The primary focus of the meeting will be considering the appointment of a new city manager, negotiating and approving an employment contract, and authorizing Mayor Wayne Best to sign the agreement.

City officials have confirmed that the candidate is a familiar face within Roane County and is a woman.

The position has been vacant for nearly eight weeks following the resignation of former City Manager Scott Mason. Additional details and the official announcement are expected following Wednesday afternoon’s session.
