A series of vehicle accidents kept emergency responders busy across Roane County over the weekend, resulting in multiple hospitalizations but no life-threatening injuries.

The weekend’s incidents began Saturday afternoon around 5:00 p.m. on Gateway Avenue in Rockwood. A vehicle veered off the road and struck a sign, causing severe damage to both the automobile and the structure. The unidentified female driver—the sole occupant of the car—was treated at the scene by the Rockwood Fire Department and Rockwood Police Department before being transported to Roane Medical Center. No other vehicles were involved, and authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash.

The accident activity continued Sunday afternoon with two additional multi-vehicle collisions:

• Interstate 40 Westbound: A three-vehicle crash near the Roane and Loudon County line sent one person to the hospital.

• Highway 70: A two-car collision near the former Harrison’s Sporting Goods Store resulted in two people being transported for medical treatment.
