CITY TO REQUESTS BIDS SOON FOR DESTRUCTION OF INN OF THE CUMBERLANDS

The City of Crossville will request bids soon for the destruction of the condemned Inn of the Cumberlands. The once lavish hotel built to attract tourists degraded over the years into a place that police were called to regularly. It was eventually closed by the city in June 2015. City Manager Greg Wood told 105.7 News today that the bids for the demolition project should be reviewed by the city council possibly in October or November. Wood said the contractor hired will need a special permit to handle hazardous materials as a meth lab was discovered at the inn before it was shut down. In the past 90 days, police arrested 6 people in separate incidents for trespassing in the structure. Citizens are not allowed on the property and will be prosecuted if caught on the premises.
