CONGRESSMAN FLEISCHMANN SECURES $2.5 MILLION FOR MORGAN COUNTY ROAD EXPANSION

U.S. Representative Chuck Fleischmann made a stop in Wartburg today during a tour of several East Tennessee counties to deliver a major announcement for local infrastructure: $2.5 million in federal funding secured for Morgan County.

Fleischmann, who serves on the House Appropriations Committee, announced that he successfully included the funds as a community project within the Housing and Transportation Appropriations bill. The targeted investment is earmarked specifically to widen Highway 62 from Petit Lane near Wartburg to the Highway 61 intersection in Oliver Springs—a project long sought by local residents.

“My job is to bring back funding, federal funding for our great counties, and I was able to secure a $2.5 million community funding project for Morgan County,” Fleischmann said, noting that the money will be officially released once the federal budget passes later this year.

He emphasized that the funds are strictly designated for the Highway 62 widening initiative and cannot be redirected elsewhere.
