Counterfeit currency was passed at a Crossville Subway store Friday. An employee of the Peavine Rd. Subway told police that a freckle-faced woman with red hair driving an SUV, tried to buy a drink with a $100 bill. After marking the bill, the employee discovered that it was a fake bill and told the suspect. The employee refused to give the bill back to the suspect who then drove off. Detectives later found out that the same suspect had tried to pass off the bill at a Hardee’s restaurant next door. Video surveillance provided by Hardee’s revealed the vehicle’s license number and the driver was identified. The investigation is continuing.
