Crossville police responded yesterday afternoon to Chestnut Hill Winery for a report of a counterfeit $100 bill received as payment.

The owner reported she’d been going through the weekend deposit and noticed a $100 bill that “seemed odd.” She consulted with staff at her bank, who confirmed the bill was counterfeit.

Apparently, a weekend employee accepted the bill for a purchase.

At the time of the report, there was no information regarding a possible suspect.

The bill was confiscated and entered into evidence.
