COUPLE ARRAIGNED IN COURT IN FENTANYL DEATH OF TODDLER

Two individuals indicted on first-degree murder charges in connection to the death of 23-month-old Ariel Rose of Nashville entered not-guilty pleas in court today.

Court officials say 36-year-old Jesse Mashburn and 46-year-old Melissa Sutton were arraigned this morning for the toddler’s death.

Nashville Metro Police report Mashburn and Sutton were caring for the toddler, Ariel Rose, at a transitional housing site in North Nashville when she was found unresponsive.

Authorities say Rose died of fentanyl toxicity after an autopsy showed she had 37ml of fentanyl in her system. The report stated just 3ml of fentanyl can be deadly.
