Cumberland County deputies were dispatched to the South Cumberland Utility District office for a theft report. On January 25 around 6 PM, a man is shown on video surveillance going through the drive-through to pay his bill. He inadvertently puts $55.00 cash in an envelope into the box that holds envelopes, instead of the cash box.

Video surveillance shows that almost three hours later, a black Honda car drives through, when a male reaches into the envelope box, finds the cash, and hands it to his female passenger. The video plainly shows the female taking the cash out of the envelope and keeping it. After the driver puts his own payment into the cash box, the vehicle leaves.

The Sheriff’s Office did get the tag number for the Honda Civic. After making a positive identification, warrants will be signed.
