On May 15, 2025, at 5:30 AM, a crash occurred on Interstate 40 East at mile marker 332.4 in Cumberland County. Michael W. Figueroa, a 40-year-old Tennessee resident, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer.

While navigating a right curve, the vehicle veered off the left side of the road into a ditch, coming to rest in shrubbery. Figueroa, who was wearing a seatbelt and uninjured, faces charges of DUI, failure to keep in the proper lane, and open container, pending investigation.

No other vehicles or passengers were reported.
