CREWS COMPLETE CLEANUP OF FORMER URANIUM ENRICHMENT COMPLEX

The Oak Ridge Office of Environmental Management (OREM) and contractor UCOR have successfully cleaned up the East Tennessee Technology Park (ETTP), a former uranium enrichment complex, transferring a 32-acre parcel to the Industrial Development Board of Oak Ridge for private sector use.
This brings the total transferred land to 1,832 acres, fostering economic development. The site, previously home to the K-27 and K-29 buildings (demolished in 2016 and 2006, respectively), has transformed from a shuttered government facility into a privately owned industrial park. This cleanup, completed last year, has enabled over 25 businesses to invest $7 billion and create 1,700 jobs.
Future transfers include a 3.5-acre tract and a 667-acre parcel.
