CROSSVILLE CITY COUNCIL BEGINS THE YEARLY BUDGET PROCESS

It’s a long, time-consuming process that governmental bodies face annually, and Tuesday, the Crossville City Council began the work of going over their projected budget for the 2019-2020 fiscal year. City Manager Greg Wood and City Finance Manager Fred Houston took center stage as they reviewed the proposed document with council members. Wood said that he had made $890,000 in cuts to the General Fund. He also stated that there were some outstanding items that would still have to be addressed in the budget, such as the outcome of the city employee wage study and the finishing touches to the Garrison Park project. Some items looked at included water and sewer, and police and fire departments. The council will be meeting with and addressing any questions or concerns to individual department heads in the next few weeks. The new budget should be ready by the end of June.
