CROSSVILLE CITY COUNCIL CONSIDERS BID TO BUILD NEW FIRE STATION TWO

The Crossville City Council will consider a bid by King Construction of Cookeville to build a new Fire Station Two for Crossville Fire and Rescue next week at the city council meeting on Tuesday.

The bid by King Construction was the lowest of six bids received last week and will cost $3,484,900 at base, with an additional $2,500 for floor finishes, and $62,000 for paving of the parking lot along Cotton Patch Road. These additions bring the total cost to $3,549,400.

Another addition that was ultimately turned down for consideration was the installation of a natural gas heating implement installed under the ramp for use in winter months to combat ice.

Ordinarily, salt would be used on the ramp to combat ice forming, but salt does damage to concrete.

The addition would have cost close to $300,000 and was turned down as simply replacing or repairing the ramp was deemed to ultimately be more cost-effective.
