CROSSVILLE CITY COUNCIL DOES SOME HO– USE-CLEANING AT SPECIAL CALLED MEETING

At a special-called meeting Thursday, the Crossville City Council decided on three items and passed on a fourth. The council discussed the LPRF Grant for the redevelopment of Garrison Park. There had been some question as to exactly what had to be included in the contract, which in Phase 1 includes the creation of a splash pad, walking area, basketball court upgrades and tearing down fencing. City Manager Greg Wood said that the contract must be adhered to. A motion to approve the contract passed 2-1 with one abstention. Council Member Pamela Harris was not present for that vote. Next, Council Member Danny Wyatt called for a motion for requests for proposals on the construction of a splash pad at Centennial Park not to exceed $250,000. The motion passed. Another motion passed which would entail the city upgrading the corner of Lantana Rd. and Main St. for lighting, signalization and to make it ADA compliant. Finally, Council Member Scot Shanks again made a motion to rescind a previous motion and for the city manager to take bids on the downtown sidewalk project and lights as redesigned. Wood then commented that TDOT says, in their opinion, Crossville’s sidewalks are not scheduled for upgrades until 2020. Council Member Harris arrived to the meeting late and did say that she could not support doing all the sidewalks, but she would support doing lights, conduit and even bidding it out. The motion failed 3-2 with Shanks and City Mayor James Mayberry voicing their support.
