CROSSVILLE CITY COUNCIL HEARS CCHS FOOTBALL FIELD DRAINAGE WOES

The Crossville City Council heard an appeal from the principal of Cumberland County High School concerning a problem with the school’s football field drainage system. A motion was made for the council to invest a price not to exceed $90,000 on the rehabilitation of the field, but failed for lack of a second. Principal John Hall addressed the council and stated his concerns for the sink holes, degrading drainage pipes and basins. City Mayor James Mayberry reminded Hall that half of the city’s sales tax revenue goes toward schools. Hall said that he realized that and was just exploring different possible options. The council did agree to Mayberry meeting with County Kenneth Carey to see if a mutual donation of city and county funds was possible. The council also approved two budget amendments on first reading involving city police vehicles that had been involved in wrecks.
