CROSSVILLE CITY COUNCIL HOLDS WORK SESSION

The Crossville City Council addressed several subjects at Tuesday’s work session. City Manager Greg Wood suggested the council think about putting together a sports recruitment committee. There had been several comments made about the dwindling presence of sport’s tournaments in the city such as youth baseball and soccer. Wood stated that those events could add an increase to the county’s motel/hotel and sales tax. He said that the committee could look at several options including creating incentives for such participation. Council Member Pamela Harris said she wanted to see Main Street center lines and parking spaces re-painted. She said that it would help to “spiff” up the downtown area until TDOT repaves. Wood said that since Main Street is a state route, TDOT would have to be consulted before any such work could be done. The council also reviewed the city’s annual budget donations to non-profits.
