A man on TBI’s Top 10 Most Wanted list who police say shot at Claiborne County deputies was captured Wednesday. Evans was wanted by the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation on charges of attempted second degree murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, felony evading arrest, possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony and a variety of traffic offenses. On Wednesday, authorities acquired information that Evans was at a home on McDaniel Lane in the Clouds Community of Claiborne County. After a brief standoff with the use of chemical weapons, Evans was taken into custody by the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office, New Tazewell Police Department, Tazewell Police Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol and the US Marshals Service Smoky Mountain Fugitive Task Force. Evans was taken to the Claiborne County Justice Center, where he is being held pending an arraignment in the General Sessions Court of Claiborne County.
