CROSSVILLE CITY COUNCIL HONORS POLICE OFFICER RIDEN AND K-9 OFFICER CAIN

The Crossville City Council honored a city police officer and his fallen K-9 comrade Tuesday night. It began when Mayor Pro Tem JH Graham asked the assemblage to observe a moment of silence in memory of K-9 Officer Cain, who lost his life in the performance of his duty last week. Afterward, Council Member Danny Wyatt asked for a suspension of the rules while he addressed the fact that the city had never “officially” named its’ dog park. He made a motion to name the dog park in honor of Officer Cain which was unanimously agreed upon. During the city marketing report, Director Billy Loggins asked Police Chief David Beaty and Lt. Bart Riden to step forward, as the city presented Lt. Riden with a specially framed portrait of his partner, Officer Cain. Lt. Riden had been Cain’s handler and partner for several years, and he thanked the city and all of its’ residents for the outpouring of love he has felt over the last week. Lt. Riden said “Cain was doing his job by taking the knife, so I would not have to.” A special public indoor memorial visitation will be held at the Crossville Police Dept. today tonight from 5-8 PM while a memorial service will be held Thursday.
