CROSSVILLE CITY COUNCIL MEETING SCHEDULED FOR TUESDAY NEXT WEEK

The Crossville City Council will address a comprehensive agenda at its meeting on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, covering ordinances, permits, grants, contracts, and resolutions to advance infrastructure and community development.
Key actions include approving the abandonment of a portion of Shepherd’s Way for Central Baptist Church’s expansion, with requirements for a cul-de-sac and financial guarantees, and updating design criteria (§18-304) to align plumbing standards, particularly for grease traps, with current codes due to growing restaurant interest.
The council will also approve a certificate of compliance for Weigel’s #124 to sell wine, a temporary street closure for the Christmas Parade, and a contract (up to $30,000) to study the Dunbar Road sewer line’s capacity. Grant applications are a focus, including a $100,000 Tourism Enhancement Grant for Main Street signage, a Downtown Improvement Grant (up to $500,000) for business façades, a School Resource Officer grant, and a Safe Water Infrastructure Grant for asset management.
Additional resolutions involve codifying the city’s ordinance book, settling an opioid-related case, and addressing four state-related condemnation cases, with an external attorney handling one due to a conflict.
The council will also approve administrative and engineering services for the Local Parks and Recreation Fund grant, a contract extension for a traffic signal project at 4th Street and West Avenue, a vendor contract for the Fly-In event, and an engineering contract amendment for the downtown sidewalk project, with paving planned for spring 2026.
Finally, contracts for environmental consulting (under $28,000) for Meadow Park Lake expansion, banking services renewal, and a water treatment plant utility tractor bid will be approved.
The work session was attended by all council members except Art Gernt who joined a bit late into the session.
