CROSSVILLE CITY COUNCIL MULLS POSSIBLE STREET CLOSING CHARGE

The Crossville City Council continues to look at the matter of street closings within the city. For months, the council has been discussing charging for such closings to help pay for services rendered such as trash pickup and police presence. City manager Greg Wood was tasked with presenting such a schedule. The council had already set two routes for 5K events and said that if the sponsors should want different routes, such as through the city, they would be charged a standard fee. Wood suggested that single businesses that would hold events would be charged but if several businesses got together for an event that would be considered a community event and there would be no charge. The item will be discussed at the council’s monthly meeting.
