CROSSVILLE CITY COUNCIL REJECTS ADDING TWO MORE MEMBERS
The Crossville City Council voted last night to reject the ratification of adding two additional council members. The council currently has five and Private Act Chapter 59 would have allowed the number to rise to seven. Both Councilman Danny Wyatt and Mayor James Mayberry said they would like to see the matter be on a referendum for citizens to decide. Mayor Pro Tem J.H. Graham III said he was contacted by constituents informing him they felt the council needed to remain at five members. The vote was nearly all no, with Councilwoman Pamala Harris casting the only yes vote. Also at last night’s council meeting, members unanimously passed the 2018-2019 budget on its third and final reading.
