CROSSVILLE CITY COUNCIL SELECTS VALERIE HALE TO BE NEW CITY MANAGER

The Crossville City Council in their work session last night agreed current city clerk Valerie Hale would be a great choice to be the next city manager.

The council agreed they wanted a candidate that is local and qualified for the job, which Hale is both

If approved by the city council in their regular meeting on Tuesday, February 13, Hale will replace Greg Wood who is retiring. Hale would start as city manager on April 1, 2024.

Within 30 days of being the new city manager, Hale will recommend a new city clerk to the council for consideration.

Hale has served as city clerk for a few years.

The city clerk maintains and preserves all public records, contracts, the city seal, ordinance books, resolution books, minutes of the city council, and other boards and committees. In addition, the city clerk is responsible for the city’s adherence to established regulations governing permitting, licensing, and public notices. In day-to-day activities, the city clerk serves as the office responsible for business licenses, beer permits, liquor licenses, solicitation permits, obtaining easements, preparation of council agendas, packets, and minutes, contract oversight, and grant administration.

Hale received recognition as a Master Municipal Clerk, the International Institute of Municipal Clerk’s highest honor. To earn this designation, Hale completed an extensive program with a rigorous education and professional contribution components, complete with a record of contributions to her local government, city, and state.

Hale is a graduate of Tennessee Tech University.
