CROSSVILLE CITY COUNCIL TO DISCUSS NEW TASERS FOR POLICE OFFICERS

The Crossville City Council will discuss in their work session this Tuesday afternoon (April 6, 2021) the proposed purchase of 43 Axon Taser 7’s for the police department. Mayor James Mayberry told 105.7 News the current ones used by the force for years need to be upgraded with the latest brand. The total cost, including the tasers, cartridges, holsters, and other items needed is $140,849.

Axon says its Taser 7 under consideration for purchase has a new Rapid Arc technology that outperforms previous brands with a refined pulse output designed to be safe and more effective. In addition, spiral darts fly straighter and faster towards a daylight green laser with nearly double the kinetic energy to compress loose and hanging clothing.

If the council decides to place the purchase on their regular meeting agenda for Tuesday, April 13, 2021, they will vote on it then.
