CROSSVILLE CITY COUNCIL TO DISCUSS POSSIBLE INDOOR REC CENTER REFERENDUM TONIGHT

The Crossville City Council will meet at 6 pm this evening. One of the agenda items includes the discussion and action regarding matters relative to the Indoor Recreation Center and the Sport Authority of the City of Crossville.  It is anticipated that the council will vote on whether or not to have a public referendum on the proposed 40 million dollar indoor rec center. During a work session last week, two out of the five council members Rob Harrison and Mike Turner  indicated they would like to have a referendum .

The other three members, Mayor Crawford, Art Gernt and Scott Shanks shared their opinions that too much work had been done toward the project to stop now.

The consensus among the three was that the people had entrusted them to make the right decisions without having a referendum on every city project.

The proposed rec center is the largest ever city project undertaken financially . The council meeting is 6pm at city hall.

Other items on the councils agenda include Approval of a new contract with Veolia Water North America-South LLC.  Approval of the land lease to Azure Flight Support. First reading of a budget amendment that’s necessary for the Northwest Connector phase 3 project in the amount of $200,000.00.
