WEATHER DELAYS NORTHSIDE DRIVE OPENING, PAVING SHOULD TAKE PLACE THIS WEEK
Recent wet weather has hampered efforts to re-open Northside Drive in Crossville within the 30 days originally set for the project.
In order to set the large water and sewer lines needed on that section of the new Northwest Connector, some extremely deep and wide openings had to be dug. Heavy rains in the area flooded those opening requiring the contractor to have to pump them out in order to complete the job. The extremely soggy area surrounding those openings and extra fill necessary to compact the area and make it ready for paving has resulted in a slight delay of only a few days according to a TDOT spokesperson that 3B Media News talked with. The road base should be in place and properly compacted this week and then Rogers Group will be able to come in and complete the paving.
TDOT, the City of Crossville Road department and the contractor have all been working diligently to get this portion of the project done in a timely manner and avoid any further disruption to the traffic flowing to and from US Highway 127 and US Highway 70N.
