CROSSVILLE MAN BURNS DOWN HOUSE BECAUSE OF RESTRAINING ORDER

Cumberland County, TN- Around 5:50 PM Saturday evening, emergency personnel responded to Wallop Lane for a structure fire.

Officials stated they observed flames coming from the windows of the residence and a man inside yelling. According to the police report, 44-year-old Joseph Larry Raleigh allegedly told a female victim earlier that day that if she were to get an order of protection, he would burn down the house.

Authorities stated he was acting belligerent and told them he didn’t want anyone to get hurt. Deputies had to assist Mr. Raleigh out of the burning residence due to his medical conditions and his legs.

When speaking with the female victim, deputies noted she was extremely upset. She had been waiting on an officer to serve Raleigh with his order of protection when she realized there was smoke coming from the front door and soon saw flames.

After County Fire was able to extinguish the fire, the electricity was unable to be turned back on per Volunteer Electric. The victim was set up with the Red Cross for housing.

Joseph Raleigh was charged with Arson and Violation of the Order of Protection. His bond is $155,000.
