CROSSVILLE MAN CHARGED IN BACK-TO-BACK WRECKS

A Crossville man was charged with being in two wrecks just moments apart. Police were called to a hit and run motor vehicle crash on Miller Ave. that involved a 2017 Honda Pilot. The driver told officers that he had to drive onto the shoulder of the roadway in an attempt to avoid being hit by what appeared to be a Chevy truck that had crossed the center line into his lane of travel. The suspected truck hit the rear part of the Honda’s driver side, then pulled over onto the shoulder turning on its hazard lights and then left the scene. Moments later, officers were called to another crash on Miller Ave. where a 1999 Chevy Silverado had smashed into a building at Woody Court. Physical damage matched information given from the driver of the Honda. The driver, 21-year-old Danilo Lopez-Gomez, failed to display a driver’s license. He also appeared to be intoxicated and officers found a bag of marijuana inside the vehicle. Lopez-Gomez was taken into custody and faces several charges.
