CROSSVILLE MAN JAILED ON DRUG, WEAPONS CHARGES
Cumberland County deputies patrolling the Dripping Springs Road area Saturday afternoon turned down a side road known to be a location preferred for using narcotics. There they encountered a vehicle attempting to leave the area. Upon making contact, deputies noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, and marijuana stems and shake evident on the rear floorboard. When exiting the vehicle, one of the passengers, 25-year-old Billy Ronald Golden, Jr., of Crossville, said he had approximately half an ounce of marijuana in the glove box, and a loaded 9mm pistol by the console. Officers found the pot and the weapon, along with empty baggies and two sets of digital scales. Golden was charged with felony manufacture, sale or delivery of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a weapon. He was placed under $20,000 bond and is due to appear in court March 11.
