CROSSVILLE MAYOR CALLS FOR DISMISSAL OF INTERIM CITY MANAGER

Crossville’s Mayor has called for the removal of the current interim city manager from office. This is not the first time that officials have called for the resignation of Steve Hill from the position, but it is the first time that Mayor James Mayberry has made such a call. In the past, Hill has been accused of such alleged activity as cover-ups or collusion with other officials. The latest incident includes Hill not addressing grievances made toward him by the Parks and Recreation Director, Tammie French. Last Wednesday, the Crossville Personnel Board spent a 2-hour session with all those concerned, reviewing items that French presented such as inter-departmental communications where alleged derogatory statements were made about her. In the meeting transcripts, a report from the Municipal Technical Advisory Service said that although some of the grievances were legitimate, they had not been filed in a timely manner. And although some members of the board were concerned about the activity which had pointed at French, after a final vote, the board recommended there be better communication between Hill and department heads. Saturday, Mayor Mayberry sent out a memo calling for a Special-Called meeting of the City Council on Tuesday at 12 Noon, with the only agenda item being the discussion and action of Hill’s removal.
