CROSSVILLE ORTHOPEDIC DOCTOR PASSES AWAY

A popular Crossville orthopedic doctor has passed away. Ty Garland graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in microbiology with an emphasis in biochemistry. He worked as a biochemist, microbiologist and organic chemist performing research in cardiovascular pharmacology at East Carolina University School of Medicine. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree with High Honors from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. Dr. Garland completed his internship in general surgery at East Carolina University and his orthopedic surgery residency at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was also involved with professional sports teams as well as acting as a consultant for several professional NASCAR racing teams. He was board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Garland relocated to Cumberland County in 2003 and had his primary office in Crossville. His areas of expertise include state-of-the-art arthroscopic treatment of afflictions of the shoulder and knee, hand surgery, foot and ankle surgery and treatment of elective trauma; both simple and complex. Dr. Garland is survived by his wife, Noelle, three children and other family members. Funeral services will be announced soon.
