CROSSVILLE POLICE ARREST MAN WALKING ALONG HIGHWAY 127 NORTH FOR PUBLIC INTOXICATION AND DRUG POSSESSION
A local man was taken into custody on October 4, 2026, after officers discovered him walking along Highway 127 North while showing signs of severe impairment.
According to Crossville Police Department reports, Officer Ramson observed 38-year-old Christopher Steward stumbling and struggling to maintain his balance on a bridge along the highway. Upon conducting a welfare check, the officer noted that Steward had red, watery eyes and slow, heavily slurred speech. Steward reportedly stated he had consumed several beers a few hours earlier and was walking toward a nearby Waffle House.
After agreeing to standardized field sobriety tests, Steward exhibited multiple clues of impairment during the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus and Walk-and-Turn evaluations. Following his arrest, officers conducted a search and recovered a pill bottle containing approximately 10.73 grams of a green, leafy substance consistent with marijuana.
Steward was determined to be a danger to himself and the public, taken into custody, and transported to intake for processing.
