CROSSVILLE POLICE ARREST SEX OFFENDER AFTER EVASION ATTEMPT
On June 19, 2025, at approximately 5:30 AM, Officer Corey Freeman observed a black 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV parked at East Adams St., where Peter Mcchesney, a known individual with active warrants for vandalism, violation of sex offender registry, and probation violation, was staying. The driver, Adam Keith Clark, exited the vehicle and was seen with another male, later identified as Mcchesney, who matched his description and fled into the house upon seeing the officer. Clark was confirmed to have a suspended license.
Officers surrounded the house, and after Clark emerged and was uncooperative, he was arrested for driving with a suspended license. Shotgun shells were observed in the vehicle, raising concerns that Mcchesney might be armed. Despite multiple attempts to contact Mcchesney via commands and phone calls, there was no response. A search warrant was obtained, and after failed negotiations, the SWAT team executed a gas plan, deploying gas canisters into the house. Mcchesney exited after 5-10 minutes and was taken into custody.
A search of the vehicle revealed a loaded Smith & Wesson .38 revolver and a Glock 33 with ammunition, both in Mcchesney’s constructive possession. Mcchesney, a convicted felon with a history of firearms charges and absconding, was transported to the county jail.
The vehicle was released to its owner who denied knowledge of the weapons. All evidence was secured, and charges were issued.
