CROSSVILLE POLICE HONORS TRUE HEROES IN SAVING A MAN’S LIFE

The Crossville Police Department held a ceremony this afternoon to honor the actions of several resulting in man’s life being saved not once, but three times in a matter of minutes.

Back on August 6, 2018, Police Officer Brandon Griffin responded to a home on the 200 block of Mockingbird Drive in Holiday Hills for an unresponsive male. Firefighters Jeremy Mangas and Nathan Wattenbarger with the Crossville Fire Department also arrived on the scene. They found Anthony Tollett, a former state trooper, with no pulse. Action to try to get his heart beating again was commenced by the responders which resulted in Tollett’s heart restarting.

Paramedics Bethany Mangas and Mike Burdick arrived and transported Tollett to Cumberland Medical Center. During transport, Tollett’s heart stopped twice and the paramedics brought him back. Tollett was then taken to an area trauma center for further treatment.

All responders involved received a Life Saver Award from Crossville Interim Police Chief Chris Kendrick this afternoon. Officer Griffin was also presented the Officer of the Month certificate.

Tollett and his family were in attendance for the ceremony and thanked all who involved in saving his life.
