CROSSVILLE POLICE INVESTIGATE TWO DISTINCT BUC-EE’S THEFTS IN ONE WEEK

It turns out everything is bigger at Buc-ee’s—including the shoplifting reports. The Crossville Police Department has recently responded to two separate theft incidents at the massive convenience store location, resulting in one active investigation and one issued arrest warrant.

Incident 1: The Night-Vision Heist

Crossville police are currently searching for an unidentified man who managed to sneak out of the store with high-tech gear.

According to police reports, on the afternoon of June 21, 2026, a male suspect pulled up to gas pump 27-27 and entered the store. Security footage later revealed the man unboxing merchandise and concealing it before walking past all cash registers without paying. The empty packaging was discovered by an employee two days later.

  • Stolen Merchandise: One GSM night vision monocular camera valued at $149.

  • Suspect Description: A white male with a goatee, wearing a blue and green flannel shirt, a black undershirt, blue jeans, and a black baseball hat.

  • Suspect Vehicle: A 2015 black Mitsubishi Mirage sporting a Tennessee temporary tag. Investigators noted the temporary tag traces back to a female resident in Rutherford County.

Store management intends to press charges and trespass the individual from the property once he is identified.

Incident 2: Beeping Security Wraps and Shoplifting Warrants

In a separate incident on June 25, 2026, a shoplifting scheme was cut short by alert loss prevention staff and quick police work, leading to an active arrest warrant for a local woman.

Loss prevention personnel observed a female suspect entering the store with a large black purse inside her shopping cart. She loaded the cart with high-end merchandise before ducking behind a snack aisle to conceal the items. In a bold move, she cut a “spider” anti-theft security device off a piece of tech and left the device beeping on a store shelf before exiting.

  • Stolen Merchandise: Two tan Justin Ladies wallets, a Charming Shark necklace, and a Crossfire Rangefinder HD 1400, totaling $247.99 in value.

  • Suspect Identified: Through collaboration with dispatch and review of a prior traffic stop conducted earlier that day, Officer Sherrill identified the suspect as Lillian Hitchcock.

  • Suspect Vehicle: A 2001 gold Honda Accord with Tennessee tag.

An active warrant for Theft of Merchandise has been officially granted for Hitchcock.
