CROSSVILLE POLICE NAB SUSPECT WITH STOLEN BOX TRUCK AND LAWN FURNITURE
A Crossville man with an outstanding warrant for joyriding has also been charged with theft of a vehicle and lawn furniture. Police were called to Daryl’s Auto on Old Jamestown Highway for a burglary. Double doors had been pried open from a garage and $100 stolen from a metal box located inside. Officers also were notified that a 2017 GMC 3500 Penske box truck worth $60,000 had also been stolen. After the theft was reported to Penske, a GPS signal located the truck parked on Charleston Drive in Crossville. Officers found the truck and also discovered 54-year-old Robert J. Wenig behind it. Inside the truck officers found boxes of lawn furniture that had been identified as being stolen from Kroger. The lawn furniture was valued at $5979. Wenig’s shoe print matched a shoe print that had been found inside of the truck. He was charged with the thefts and also served with the warrant for joyriding.
