CROSSVILLE POLICE TO BEGIN CARRYING EPI-PENS
Earlier this year, the Cookeville Police Dept. became the first law enforcement agency in the state to carry Epi-pens. The Crossville City Council has now agreed to allow Crossville Police to carry the life-saving medications. At Tuesday’s city council meeting, City Manager Greg Wood said that the Cookeville Regional Medical Center Charity Foundation has stepped forward to offer the Epi-pens to Crossville. All the city would have to furnish is training and materials at a cost of $300. The Epi-pen contains an injection of epinephrine which allows blood vessels and airways to expand. The effects can cure everything from low blood pressure to an allergic reaction.
