CROSSVILLE WOMAN FACES COURT TODAY OVER RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT INCIDENT AT HOSPITAL
Kristy Leigh Jaynes of Crossville faces multiple criminal charges in Cumberland County General Sessions Court today stemming from incidents on January 17, 2026, at Cumberland Medical Center (CMC) and surrounding areas.
According to the affidavits, Jaynes pulled a fire alarm at CMC by manually activating a pull station, damaging it (handle broken off), and knocked a picture off the wall. She admitted to both actions, resulting in an estimated $500 in damages to hospital property without the owner’s consent, leading to a vandalism.
In a related incident at the CMC ER entrance, Jaynes allegedly stole a 2021 Chevy Trailblazer valued at $42,000. She drove off with the owner’s 13-year-old daughter in the front passenger seat; the juvenile had to exit the moving vehicle. The owner attempted to stop her in the roadway and reported being struck on his right side by the vehicle. This led to charges of theft of property ($10,000–$60,000) and two counts of reckless endangerment (felony, vehicle-related), as her actions allegedly placed the owner and the juvenile in imminent danger of death or serious bodily injury.
Following the theft, Deputy James Curry observed Jaynes driving the stolen vehicle at a high rate of speed, running a red light. She failed to stop for emergency lights and sirens, continuing until the vehicle was stopped on Lantana Road, where she was taken into custody. This resulted in an evading arrest (flight – vehicle) charge. She is also charged with obstructing a highway or passageway.
All cases list her attorney as the Public Defender. The matters were scheduled on the Criminal Court Docket for May 14, 2026.
