INMATE CONVICTED OF YEAR 2000 ROANE COUNTY MURDER KILLED IN PRISON

Robert Roysden, a 45-year-old Tennessee state prison inmate convicted in a 2000 Roane County murder case, was killed on May 2 at the Hardeman County Correctional Facility in Whiteville.

According to reports, two other inmates are suspected in his death, and the investigation by authorities remains ongoing. Roysden had been serving a 41-year sentence after pleading guilty to second-degree murder, theft of property over $500, and three counts of forgery in connection with the March 5, 2000, murder and robbery of an elderly woman.

He received 40 years for the murder charge, with an additional forgery sentence ordered to run consecutively.

The Tennessee Department of Correction has not yet released final findings on the incident.
