CROSSVILLE’S CITY CLERK SALLY OGLESBY RETIRING AT YEAR’S END

A woman who has been a fixture in Crossville city government for over three decades is getting ready to retire. City Clerk Sally Oglesby still has a few months to go, but she will officially be retiring on Jan. 6, 2018. Her last meeting with the city council will be in December. Ms. Oglesby was appointed City Recorder (now City Clerk) in 1985. She has served under 5 mayors, 22 city councilmembers, and 11 permanent city managers. She has held the position longer than anyone in the city’s history. Sally cites the immense change in technology connected with the job. When she began in 1985, she did not have a computer, fax machine or e-mail. She did not even have a cell phone. Ms. Oglesby says she will not be sitting still after leaving the position. She plans on traveling with husband Bill, visiting grandchildren, and is interested in mentoring programs.
