The Cumberland County Fire Department has been very busy putting out an estimated 18 fires in 24 hours.

Most of the fires involved individuals burning leaves and brush.

No burn permits will be issued anywhere in the region until substantial rain falls.

A burn ban is also in effect. No burning of any kind can take place outdoors.

Citizens caught burning while a burn ban is in effect are subject to be issued a citation.
